Huge auction of Chevrolet cars at Mecum Auctions
On the other side of the pond we thought this sale is worthy of mention given the size of a one man collection of GM cars that were sold yesterday continuing today. The collection has been put together by collector, Rick Treworgy who began his collection in the 60s for his museum, Muscle Car City in Florida, but has now decided to retire and thin down his collection.
Mathewsons sale to proceed as planned on the 5th and 6th Feb
Mathewsons have taken the decision to go ahead with their first auction of the year on the 5th and 6th Feb. This will mean under current lockdown restrictions that no physical viewings will take place which will mean buyers will have to be totally reliant on photographs and descriptions provided.

Sean Connery's BMW 635CSI is currently available via the online auctioneer The Market. The car was bought in Spain by Sean Connery in 1989 and he kept it for the next ten years.

179 mile Ford Ka at SWVA
Okay, we hear the screams that is not a classic and perhaps so, but more likely than not it will in future decades become collectible. SWVA are selling one such example in their 29th Jan sale with just 179 miles on the clock.
Rover P5B Coupe sells for £45000 at Classic Car Auctions
This is undoubtedly a new auction record for a 1970 Rover 3. 5 P5B Coupe.
No reserve bargains at Historics
We suspect the ongoing pandemic and an understandable general reluctance to travel at present led to several of Historics no reserve cars being left with few bidders. There is also an assumed thought process that no reserve cars at auction usually end up with lots of spirited bidding and achieved prices sometimes better than if a big reserve/estimate is placed on the car.
Flurry of auctions this week
A quick reminder that this week brings several end of year auctions. This includes Historics at Ascot Racecourse on the 12th.
H&H online automobilia auction
If you haven't already seen it, now is the time to take a look at the latest and largest so far H&H auction of automobilia which is due to end over the weekend. The sale has just about everything in it from signed Bond photographs to huge amounts of literature to an Austin J40 pedal car.
Brightwells catalogue continues to build
Brightwells last online timed auction will take place on the 10th December and already has an interesting selection of cars on offer. For us the 1949 Humber Mk II Pullman Limousine has to be the pick although it appears to be in need of a good deal of restoration.
