No reserve bargains at Historics

We suspect the ongoing pandemic and an understandable general reluctance to travel at present led to several of Historics no reserve cars being left with few bidders. There is also an assumed thought process that no reserve cars at auction usually end up with lots of spirited bidding and achieved prices sometimes better than if a big reserve/estimate is placed on the car. For whatever reason several of the Historics no reserve cars looked quite cheap to us and notably the Standard Vanguard Phase 1 which judging from the photographs looked in reasonable shape. The final price of just £1,584 is what we would expect to pay for something in need of significant restoration. Indeed a car that was in need of restoration work sold at Anglia Car Auctions a few months back for almost £8,000. We think someone grabbed a real bargain with this one. Other seeming no reserve bargains included £4,867 for a 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1, £2490 for a Standard Vanguard Phase 2, £3,169 for a Morris Oxford Series 3, £2,264 for a 1965 Vauxhall Victor 101, £15,848 for a Jaguar MK 2 3.4, £2,037 for a 1984 Daimler DS420, £1,358 for a 1973 Daimler DS420, £8,960 for a 1973 Bentley T1. There are in fact several more and you can see the full Historics results by clicking here
