1970 Ford Transit MK1 Perkins Diesel van at CCA
We thought this van was worthy of mention as it demonstrates why a well restored classic that has been done to a high standard should command a premium valuation. This particular example was restored for the TV programme For the Love of Cars.
Barons on the 14th July
Barons next sale takes place on Tuesday 14th July at their usual venue of Epsom Downs Racecourse. The sale has a number of interesting cars and the one that took our fancy is a 1970 Ford Escort MK1 Lotus Twin cam.
Richard Edmonds this weekend
This weekend (11th July) brings a large online sale of Petroliana being held by Richard Edmonds. There is something for everyone in the sale and for those with the deepest pocket a BP 'Winner' pictorial enamel sign, from the 1920s, showing a racing car at speed coming towards the viewer which is estimated at a big £15,000 to £20,000.
SWVA achieves 99% sale rate
The sale rate really says it all about SWVA's sale on Friday 26th June. The cars tend to be in the £20k or lower bracket and they nearly always have very tempting estimates which generally get blasted away as spirited bidding and the chance of a cheap classic drives prices on.
Brightwells online bidding has commenced
Brightwells has kicked off their latest online auction which is online only with no viewing permitted. It certainly makes for a more difficult sale when viewing is not allowed and you have to go solely by the auction house description and condition reports.
COVID 19 and the classic car market: an update
We have had a number of auction sales in recent weeks and having looked at prices achieved and especially activity within the trade element of the market we can reach a few conclusions as to how the market is operating and what impact COVID 19 is having. There is no doubt from our stats that activity within the budget end of the market, between £5,000 and £15,000 is very buoyant at the moment.
Frantic bidding at Anglia Car Auctions
We think ACA nailed it in terms of how to do an online auction properly. In the run up to the auction they not only provided a video of each car when static showing any condition issues but they also did a video of each car driving which made a big difference and helped to build confidence.
H&H online sale results
The results from yesterday's H&H online sale are now up on their website. The big result is the £184,500 paid for a 1934 Lagonda M45 T7 Tourer with original factory T7 coachwork.
Viewing underway at Anglia Car Auctions
A full week of viewing has been taking place at Anglia Car Auctions ahead of a mammoth two day sale this coming weekend. Our pick of the bunch has to be the superb and arguably not far off concours Ford Zodiac MK III.
Bumper Anglia Car Auctions sale this weekend
After a prolonged period of lockdown closure, Anglia Car Auctions are back this coming weekend with a bumper sale to make up for lost time. The sale is so large that for the first time ACA will be holding it over two days with online bidding, commisssion and telephone bidding the only options available.
Historics starting to build for their next sale
Historics have now announced the date of their next sale which will take place on the 18th July at a new location due to Brooklands being closed which will be Windsorview Lakes. Among the lots currently listed we couldn't resist mentioning the 1950 Humber Super Snipe Mk.
Spirited bidding at Mathewsons
There was no sign of malaise in the classic car market yesterday with plenty of bidding activity at Mathewsons latest sale held at their new 25,000 sq ft venue in Pickering. Attendance was not allowed so online and telephone bidding only but that did not stop what we expect to be a good sale rate and good prices especially for the best cars.
