Vauxhall Viva GT at Mathewsons

Mathewsons next auction takes place over the 9th and 10th June. Among the ever growing lot list is a real gem, a 1969 Vauxhall Viva GT. The Viva GT was a potent car when it arrived in 1968 to compete with the Fast Fords of the day. With a twin carb, 2 litre overhead camshaft engine, a matt black bonnet with twin air-vents it was a real alternative to a Ford Escort RS. The production numbers for the GT will inevitably be small in comparison with its Ford counterparts and the survival numbers are miniscule. The last genuine GT we have seen for sale was in 2016. The car in Mathewsons auction is a barn find which looks to be in surprisingly good shape. It was also keeping a Chevette HS for company which is in the sale as well. The GT is estimated at £8,000 to £10,000 which it could very easily exceed given the rarity factor, a real find we think.
