The Beaulieu Bargain : 1948 Jaguar Mark IV 3½-litre DHC
05 September 2021
This weekend was the first Beaulieu autojumble since 2019 and as always with the Bonhams Beaulieu auction sale it has a tendency to throw up the odd very large bargain which is why it is always attended well by dealers seeking new stock. The car in question is a 1948 Jaguar Mark IV 3½-litre DHC which sold for a jaw dropping cheap £29,812 inc. premium. Why is it cheap we hear you say, well first off it is one of 46 survivors of 184 RHD 3½-Litre dropheads built. This car appears to have been in long term ownership since 1982 when it was apparently purchased in pristine condition. Looking at the photographs the car presents with lots of patina and bags of character in our view and outwardly looks to have been very well preserved. What's it worth we hear you say. Well you will find cars that are on the market for £120k which makes this purchase a ridiculous bargain and a car that frankly you could relist tomorrow for double the asking price. Someone has bought very well today!
