Michael Banfield Collection
10 June 2014
Bonhams are auctioning this Friday the entire collection of the late Michael Banfield. It is in many respects a great shame to see a collection that has taken many decades to bring together to only be dispersed once again, but that does happen all too often and of course there is then the opportunity for collectors to acquire incredibly rare pieces. This sale has a huge array of rare automobilia with a superb selection of petrol pump globes and enamel signs due to go under the hammer. The collection itself is very much biased towards commercial vehicles with a few cars. The sale is being held on location in Staplehurst, Kent and is a very rare event given the number of enamel signs and rarities on offer. The estimates within Bonhams catalogue would suggest everything must go and there may well be some bargains to be had although we suspect this sale will be very well attended.
