The latest auction results for H&H are now online. The numbers suggest that prices for many classics are continuing to fall at a rapid rate. Whilst we have not seen any of the cars we mention here, the standout results where prices seems weak include £9,417 paid for a Triumph Stag with just 51,000 miles on the clock and seemingly in good order with the desirable manual with overdrive gearbox. A 1964 Jaguar MK2 3.8 with power steering, air con and other upgrades made £13,333 which reflects weaker demand we are seeing for MK2 Jaguars at present. Pre war cars are taking a pounding at present and this shows in the result for the 1940 Alvis 12/70 Drophead Coupe which made just £10,688. We would have expected near double this not that long ago. A 1970 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster made £53,438 which is what a Coupe would have commanded a few years ago whilst a roadster in nice order would have been £80k plus. The vendor of this car paid £90k for it in 2018, which shows just how far values have fallen and continue to fall. Values of E-Types have been impacted by demand and also a glut of supply with many left hand drive cars entering the country and being converted to right hand drive. Another E-Type in this sale was a 1971 Jaguar E-Type V12 Coupe which was always the poor cousin of the earlier cars, but values have chased higher over the years, but they also have now reversed some of their gains. There were some interesting positive results such as the 1989 Volvo 740 SE 2.0 Estate with1 former keeper and 42,000 miles from new that made £10,125. Whilst a 1963 Volvo P1800 sold for £31,500. The unique car in the sale was a 1933/2018 Packard Special 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Evocation which was bespoke built in 2018 using an authentic pre-war chassis and 6 cylinder, 5 Litre Studebaker engine which made a huge £174,375. Another pre war casualty was a 1934 Hotchkiss 615 Monaco Saloon which is a UK supplied car that seemed in reasonable order but made just £4,725. Finally, a 1986 Ford Granada MkII 2.8 GL Estate with one owner and 23,000 warranted miles from new made what was probably a record sum of £12,375.
