Silverstone Auctions latest sale took place at the NEC Classic Car Show. The lot list included many interesting cars with a good deal of low mileage original cars on offer. Some of the highlights include a 1996 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 VSR which has a rare VW Motorsport-upgraded VSR engine. The car was in superb order and achieved a near record level of £24,750. A real rarity was the 1980 Vauxhall Chevette HS-X which is one of only 10 built and one of just three survivors, all of which helped to propel it to £29,250. A near flawless 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SL (R107) with just 6,000 miles on the clock made what must be a record at £75,375. Another record was the £84,167 paid for a 9,627 mile 1986 Ferrari 412 Manual. We then get to a unique number of exceptionally low/delivery mileage Fords. A 2003 Ford Focus RS Mk1 - 21 Miles made £74,833. A 2010 Ford Focus RS500 - 948 miles made £99,000.2009 Ford Focus RS Mk2 - 357 miles made £63,000. Another at record breaking pace was a 2004 Renault Clio V6 255 Phase 2 with just 13250 Miles made £92,250. An ex Stirling Moss 1957 BMW Isetta 600 (700) went on to achieve what must be another record at £56,250. Fast Fords were definitely a theme of this sale and a 1987 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special with just 3,617 miles did extremely well with a final price of £58,500 whilst a 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth with just 8,795 miles from new went on to make £132,750. Even Ferrari got in on the record price level act and this was a 1991 Ferrari 348 TS which has never been high on the desirability list, but this one had just 2,000 miles from new and was a right hand drive car which took it all the way to £92,250. Talking of right hand drive cars, there must be a handful at most of the DeLorean DMC-12 in right hand drive form and one example was available at this sale which went on to achieve record breaking pace of £85,500.

A good example of how low mileage originality can bake a huge premium into a car was the 1989 Jaguar XJ-S 5.3 V12 Convertible - Unregistered - 100 miles from new which made an incredible £131,625, find another!

It wasn't just the Fast Fords making the money, a 1972 Ford Transit MK1 Twin Wheel LWB Panel Custom Van with a believed 7,000 miles on the clock made another record at £61,875.

A superb sale and some really well curated cars, well done Silverstone Auctions.
