RM Auctions

The annual RM auction in Battersea London took place last night and whilst there are far too many cars to mention here there are a couple of results that are particularly interesting.

World record for a Jaguar XK150S at RM!!

The first must be a world record for a Jaguar XK150S 3.8 litre roadster which sold for a huge £313,600 taking into well into Aston Martin DB5 country. This was a unique car having had one owner from new in unrestored condition with 45,000 miles on the clock and is one of only 24 rhd 150s cars produced, but still even for these facts the price achieved yesterday was amazing.

Towards the other end of the spectrum the demand for bubble cars seems to show no sign of abating with a nicely restored BMW Isetta achieving a strong £30,800; perhaps even a year ago you could pick up a restored example on the private market for around the £10,000 mark. A Mercedes 300SL Gullwing sold for £739,200 again demonstrating that these cars are still on a strong upward trajectory.

For the Bond fanatics the Esprit ‘Submarine car’ went on to achieve £616,000. The 1955 Jaguar D Type has not been sold at the time of writing but did achieve a highest bid of £4m. To see a video of the Bond car click here.
