Bonhams Goodwood Members Meeting sale was as always very well attended with plenty of spirited bidding for lots of very nice cars. Some of the headline grabbers include the £113,500 incl premium paid for a 1997 Subaru Impreza 22B-STI Limited Edition Prototype. The words Limited Edition and prototype mean't this car was always heading for a premium and with some recent strong Subaru results these cars are starting to motor in valuation terms now. A 1957 Jaguar Mk1 3.4-Litre Sports Saloon which competed in the 1958 Monte Carlo Rally achieved a huge £189,660 including premium. Finding some wheels for the London to Brighton run is becoming an expensive business if the result for the 1903 Clément 12/16hp 4-cylinder Rear-entrance Tonneau Car is anything to go by. It was a lovely car that came with a big price ticket of £281,500 incl premium. The sale also included the most expensive MGB GT that we have come across. With invoices on file of around £47,000 for just a body rebuild it had to be something special. A recondition engine was installed whilst the interior was left untouched. The price of £18,975 reflected the money spent on the car and might well have been an auction record for one of these cars. We were intrigued to see what the Jaguar MKVII in this sale achieved with its 2,000 miles from new on the clock. The condition of the car in many respects was quite poor, but the market's obsession with low mileage did the trick and took it all the way to £21,850 incl premium. The prices of Jaguar XK120s seems to be on another upward march and in this sale a 1953 3.8 litre Coupe made a strong £119,100 including premium. A 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Litre Flat Floor Roadster hit £180,700 including premium although another such example in the sale did not sell.Overall some excellent sale results with some superb racing.
