Anglia Car Auctions

It seems at the moment that every auction result is dominated by a fast Ford headline and this one was no exception with a Ford Capri 3000E Broadspeed car flying all the way to £50,400 somewhat above the estimate of £25,000 to £30,000. Other notable results include a 1990 Ford Escort XR3i with just 8,705 miles on the clock which achieved £21,000 again above its estimate of £12,500 to £15,000. A car that rarely gets a mention these days but is very rare given the low survival numbers is the Humber Sceptre and this sale included a 1973 car which was again low mileage with 21,900 miles on the clock. This particular example made £7,770 against its estimate of £4,000 to £5,000. Series 1 E-Type barn finds can be assured of making way above what they should when you take into account the restoration costs. The 1963 example in this sale had been with the current owner since 1984. It was running but clearly in need of a full restoration, but that did not stop it finding its way to a final price of £71,950. A Mercedes 280SL Pagoda described as being in concours condition reached £100,000 proving that demand for top examples of this model remains very strong. Finally, a 1991 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 which had been fully restored to a high standard achieved a very strong £25,200 which perhaps shows where valuations of the 90s hot hatches are now heading.
