The MK II Jaguar was introduced in 1959 to replace the 2.4 and 3.4 saloons that were sold in the 1950s. The car had a redesigned suspension to improve roadholding and reduce the tendency to roll. The rear track was wider than the earlier car. It had a wrap around rear window and more side window chrome to enhance the appearance. Total cabin glass area was 18% more than the MK 1. Disc brakes were introduced on the front wheels of the MK II.
