1971 Triumph Stag Fastback Prototype to be sold at Bonhams Goodwood Members Meeting Sale

If you want to own the one and only model of a Triumph Stag the Bonhams Goodwood Members Meeting sale is the place to be. They will be selling one of only three Fastback Stag prototypes built (only this one is known to survive) which has been in the same family ownership since 1985. This car came about In 1968 when Triumph asked the famous Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti to make a fastback version of the Stag. After considering several designs once was chosen, but in September 1970 the fastback project was shelved by parent company British Leyland and this remaining prototype managed to survive and was taken on by one of BL's directors. The car was discovered by the current custodian in 1985 and subjected to a concours restoration. The estimate for the car is £50,000 to £80,000 which is quite wide as how do you value something so unique. We will find out on the 16th April!
