About the Austin A40 Devon
The Austin A40 Devon was introduced as the replacement for the Austin 10. It had a 4 speed gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd., 3rd., and fourth. It had drum brakes all round with coil spring suspension at the front and semi elliptic springs at the rear. There were many vatiats of the Devon, including the shorther lived 2 door Dorset, a 2 door estate ,a very popular van, and a pick-up. There was also the Jensen bodied A40 Sports.
