Intelligence Data:
About the Austin 8
Sales of the Austin 7 were reducing towards the end of the 1930s and so Austin first brought in a larger version of the Austin 7 called the Big 7 but soon replaced it with a completely new model, with a new chassis, the Austin 8. The 900 cc engine was retained, mated to a 4 speed gearbox. More curves were introduced into the body design. Initial production continued into 1943 as tourers were produced for the armed forces. Production of 4 door saloon cars was recommenced after the end of the war.
