About the Alvis 12/70
Alvis introduced the 12/70 in September 1937. Made along the lines of the Silver Crest it was offered as a 4 seater Sports Saloon or a 2 door Drop Head Coupe. Equipped with a 4 cylinder engine of 1842 cc producing 63 bhp, it was capable of 80 mph.
A 4 speed gearbox was fitted with synchromesh on 2nd., 3rd., and 4th. gears.
It was the last car designed by George Lanchester and the bodies were made by Mulliners of Birmingham.
In September1938, about a year from launch, a Mark !! version came out with interior space improved all round.
