Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Litre Roadster Series 2

This rather lovely Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 has been in the ownership of the same custodian for the last 30 years and only comes to market now following his death. The car has been very well looked after and comes with a history file complete with a large number of invoices detailing work carried out over the last 30 years. This includes a full engine rebuild in 2013 by CKL Developments at a cost of £8,576,00. The car has always received attention whenever it has needed it and comes to market as a well maintained car that has been set up very well indeed making it a great driving car.

The car started life in the US in September 1970 and was imported into the UK in 1991. It has changed colour to silver with a grey leather interior and has been converted to right hand drive. It has clearly been the subject of restoration work which has been done to a very good standard and as the photographs will demonstrate it presents very well indeed with chrome wire wheels which look like new. Since the engine rebuild the car has completed less than 800 miles.

The paintwork still presents very well although there are a few minor blemishes. The interior which has been refurbished in the past still looks fresh with just minor wear to piping on the drivers seat. The dashboard is in excellent condition as is the hood. The bumpers have been re-chromed in the past as has other trim. The colour scheme is certainly one of the most attractive for an E-type in our view.

Mechanically the car is in superb order as you would expect of a car that has been well maintained and been subject to an engine rebuild less than 1,000 miles ago. It has in recent years been upgraded to a triple Weber carburettor set-up which really makes a difference to how responsive these cars are. When set up correctly as this car is you really feel the difference in the driving experience.The car has been frequently serviced and it has an MOT which expires in March 2022.

The history file contains many invoices along with a current as well as the old style V5s. There is also an operating, maintenance and service book and lubrication chart.
