Historics latest auction took place on Saturday and the standout theme for us from this sale is the price commercials are commanding. So far this year we have seen evidence of very strong demand for good examples of vans and pickups and this sale was no exception. Perhaps the market is being driven by scarcity as commercials were worked very hard and the survival numbers are very limited indeed. The winner in this sale by a mile was a 1961 Bedford J0 Pick-up which had been restored to an exceptionally high standard and achieved a huge £47,600. Another pickup was the 1951 Ford Thames 400E Pick-up which had a number of areas of corrosion but still achieved a very respectable £16,520. There were a number of vans in the sale all of which were in average condition, but still achieved strong prices. A 1963 Austin A35 which was condition 2/3 in our view made £7,168. A 1956 Ford Thames Deluxe 7CWT Van made £14,000 whuch was again condition 2/3. Finally, a 1960 Ford Thames Van also did very well at £13,584.

Among others car sof interest was a 1972 Triumph GT6 MK3 which was exceptional. It had been sold in June of last year by the trade but less than a year later it was back on the market and sold for £21,840 which was some £3,000 less than what it sold for last year.

A 1960 Ford Anglia which was one of 5 cars to be sold on behalf of one vendor had been restored to a very high standard. The car had vitually no history which is a shame, but that didn't stop it from achieving over £12k on the day although we note Historics have now decided on a number of cars not to declare the sale price for some reason.

The majority of E-types in this sale failed to sell as prices continue to wane, but one notable exception was a 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé which made a strong £56,600.
