Brightwells

No outstanding results at the latest Brightwells sale. The MG TF1500 which looked nice achieved £28,000 which is towards the top end of the valuation range for these cars. If anything we believe the T series cars have lost some ground over the last 18 months, especially the earlier TC and TD series cars. We thought the 1936 Bedford ASYC Van looked well bought at £9,486. Anything commercial seems to have a strong following at the moment and although this is pre war it could easily have achieved comfortably over £10,000 in our view. The 1949 Bristol 400 which went for £44,800 look about right although some cars have achieved well in excess of this at auction in recent months. The £19,712 paid for a 1928 Austin Seven Chummy shows there is still plenty of appetite for pre war Austin Sevens if they are the right car. This was an older restoration that had been restored to concours standard. Our pick of the sale though has to be the 1964 Triumph Herald 1200 Estate which looked fantastic and had come from long term ownership. The price paid was £10,696 which will be an auction record for one of these. We have seen a lot of price inflation in Herald and Vitesse variants which is long overdue in our view,
