Anglia Car Auctions

Anglia Car Auctions latest sale generated plenty of interest with probably one of the best lot lists they have had in many years. The barn find AC collection along with an array of E-Types all in need of serious restoration generated plenty of interest and all got away at good prices. The prize was the Bristol powered AC Ace which had an interesting history and despite needing a full restoration it still achieved a strong £156,600. Among the other cars on offer there were plenty of really nice cars that did not achieve what they should have providing scope for some bargain hunting. There were two examples of Daimler V8 250, both of which were in exceptionally nice condition and they both made approx £15,700. One went to a dealer who had it up almost the next day on his forecourt for £22k and that sold within a day! It does demonstrate that although an auction might have many hundreds of sets of eyes on the cars on offer there are still bargains to be had. In fact another such example was one of the best MGB GT V8s that we have seen in a long time, it looked exceptional, but only realised just under £22k. That also ended up on a dealer forecourt at around the £28k mark and was sold within a week. Jensen Interceptor prices look excellent value at the moment having experienced something of a price crash over the last 18 months or so. One such example in this sale had been bought by the vendor for £49k in 2015. The car looked exceptionally nice but only made £31,590. We can see prices moving back up in due course especially given that top examples peaked out at somewhere around the £80k mark not that long ago. A Ford Orion Diesel with just 36,000 miles on the clock made £4,428 and with patience and kept in the same condition the value of these will only trend one way given the low survivor numbers. There were bargains to be had even among the lower priced cars such as a 1991 Mercedes 190E with just 34,693 miles on the clock which made £4,536. The car was almost mint condition and a bargain in our view. There was a one family owned Volvo 940SE Turbo Estate which admittedly had a high mileage of 168,000 miles and the car sold for just £2,000. These cars will keep going if looked after and this car was certainly in that category and a dealer also though so which is why it is now on his forecourt for £4,995.

This was probably one of ACA's best auctions in years given the breadth of cars on offer and we are looking forward to seeing the line up for the next sale in November.
