Mathewsons sale results
06 June 2021
Another mammoth sale from Mathewsons yesterday with the sale taking place over Friday evening and all of Saturday. The full sale results will be available soon but we have picked a few of the more notable results.
Lot 219 was a 1965 Triumph TR4A with an estimate of £19,500 to £20,500 but made an estimate busting £32,972. These are numbers we more associate with a TR5, but we are clearly seeing yet more price inflation in TR4 cars and asking prices in excess of £30k are undoubtedly becoming more commonplace.
Lot 310 was a 1977 MGB Roadster. Prices of these are fast catching up with their chrome bumper brothers as evidenced by the £9,265 paid for the example in this sale against its estimate of £4500 to £5500.
Lot 363 is a Bristol 400 and is probably the bargain of the sale selling for £30,520 against its estimate of £38,000 to £40,000. Examples of these have sold for well in excess of £60,000 in recent sales and this is certainly a cheap car for someone.
Lot 424, a Packard Coupe was another potential bargain selling for just £10,627 against its estimate of £12,000 to £13,000.
Lot 505, a Wolseley 16/60 which was estimated at £7,000 to £9,000 burst through its upper estimate to make a very strong £16,077.
