ACA to sell George Formby's MK1 Jaguar
03 December 2021
This is an interesting car, George Formby who was a very famous entertainer of the 30s and 40s owned this MK1 Jaguar until an unfortunate accident with an Austin A30 brought his ownership to an end with the damaged car traded in for a MK 9 Jaguar. The incident was well publicised at the time according to ACA taking place on the August bank holiday of 1959. The car was eventually rebuilt and reunited with George Formby's personal plate of GF2. This car has the more powerful 3.4 litre engine and is sure to generate plenty of interest, the plate itself muct be worth a small fortune. the estimate is fairly wide at £30,000 - 50,000 which no doubt reflects the fact that it is a hard car to value. A George Forman fan or two will be needed to get it towards the top of that range.
