ACA results now available

A few interesting results from ACA's first sale of the year. The top one has to be the £87,480 paid for the 1959 Jaguar MK1 3.4 which had previously been owned by George Formby. We find that celebrity ownership rarely has a big impact on valuation unless the celebrity is Steve McQueen or someone very famous. Certainly George Formby was a big name in his day but it was still surprising to see such a big premium paid for this car which was estimated at £30,000 to £50,000. A record for a MK1 Jag and clearly two people really like George Formby!
The other notable success was the £19,440 paid for a 1964 Ford Zodiac MK3 against its estimate of £8,000 to £10,000. We can only assume the car was mint to achieve this and it certainly looks nice in the photographs, but it was still a surprising result especially when you see in the narrative that the car carries glass fibre front wings.
Finally, Fast Fords can still surprise and this time it was a no reserve 1985 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special with
28,460 miles from new which made a very strong £42,660.
