SWVA's first sale of the year achieved some steady results such as the £42500 plus buyers premium paid for the Ford Escort Mk1 RS1600. It was encouraging to see the Austin Seven Box saloon which appeared in lovely condition achieve £10,500 plus premium. The prices of many pre war cars have been under pressure over the last couple of years and Austin Sevens have not escaped the fallout despite their appeal which made this result a good one. The lovely Packard One-Twenty' Eight Coupe burst through its estimate of £10,000 to £12,000 to rise all the way to £18,250 plus premium. Spirited bidding between two buyers in the room took the car towards what is likely to be its true value. Another interesting result was the £15400 plus buyers premium that was paid for the BMW 3.0SI. These are rare cars and certainly deserving of a premium price. It does seem that BMWs of this era are still seeing gains in value at the moment.
