South Western Vehicle Auctions
26 April 2019
SWVA's latest auction at their HQ in Poole, Dorset generated a sale rate of 98% which is probably top of the pile in terms of sale success rate although not that unexpected given that the cars tend to be towards the budget end of the market where the chances of achieving a sale at present are considerably higher. Notable results include the £36,500 plus premium paid for an early MGA which had been the subject of a £40k restoration, the car looked great and certainly worth its money. We also note the near £10,000 paid for a Triumph Dolomite Sprint. You could argue this is not that unexpected, but in fact if you look at sale prices for these cars they tend to average £5k to £8k and this result suggests to us these cars are still ticking higher in value and rightly so in our view. Given what you have to pay for a fast Ford these days, the Sprint looks decidedly cheap. Judging from the pictures this car was by no means perfect, but certainly a nice example. The cheap car of the day is likely to be the one owner from new Wolseley Hornet which had just 47,000 miles on the clock and was very original indeed. The price of £8,300 plus premium looked cheap and we were not the only ones to think this as the car is now back on the market with a dealer.
