Silverstone Auctions

Silverstone Auctions did not achieve as a high a sale rate as they perhaps might have liked at the prestigious Salon Prive event in London. What cannot be disputed is that they provided a magnificent line up of cars for the sale and still achieved a respectable sale rate of just over 60%. Perhaps the car with the most significant provenance has to be the 1970 Range Rover Chassis no. 001 which went on to achieve the higher end of its estimate with a final price tag of £132,250. Not surprisingly there was a good Ferrari line up in this sale although with some notable no sales such as the F40 (estimate £600,000-£750,000) and an F50 (£600,000-£750,000) which did not find new homes. However, some bigger ticket cars did happily find new owners with one of our Ferrari favourites, a 250GT Lusso achieving just under £1900,000. A 1971 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder was reported to have found a new home with Chris Evans at a price tag of £2,277,000. It was surprising to see a Lamborghini Miura P400 left unsold at an estimate of £600,000-£750,000 whilst one of 50 Bentley 4.5 litre Blower Bentleys did look optimistically estimated at £2.2m to £2.5m.Overall, there were some good results in this auction and we hope to see Silverstone Auctions back next year with another great line-up.
