Plenty of interesting results from the superb NEC Classic Car show which Silverstone Auctions generated at their latest sale. In the low mileage category a 1979 Porsche 911 SC with 37,000 miles on the clock generated a strong £74,250. Values of the SC have been gently ticking higher over the last year or so and this result demonstrates what the best cars can command. A Jaguar E-Type Series 3 with just 12,695 miles on the clock made £72,000 again a significant premium to what a car with a high mileage would make. A 1980 Ford Escort MkII RS2000 Custom with only 28,000 miles demonstrated that the appetite for fast Fords has yet to waiver as it went on to make £52,000. The same may be said of a 1987 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth with just 10,490 miles that went on to achieve a huge £103,500. This was beaten by a 1989 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 which has just over 15,100 miles on the clock and stormed to a final price of £110,250.
Wheeler Dealer Mike Brewer had several cars to sell in this sale including an immaculately presented 1972 Citroen SM 2.7 which did well with a price of £41,062. Also among his cars was a 1967 Mini Cooper 1275 S which sold for £54,000 a figure which is right up there for a Cooper.
The most famous Mini Moke in the world, a 1965 'The Prisoner' Mini Moke which starred in the 1968 'Cult' TV series The Prisoner made what must be a record for one of these, £69,750.
A 1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus with just 6,000 miles on the clock made what must be a record for one of these at £51,000. Another record will be the £40,500 paid for a 1969 Triumph GT6 Mk 2 which had been the subject of a near £100k restoration.
