Historics

Historics latest sale shows the market to be in reasonably good health as we approach the mid year mark. There were one exceptional result which was the £156,800 paid for a superb Alvis TE21 DHC by Park Ward. Aside from that there were encouraging results for those seeking assurances that the market is still in good health. Such as the £18,480 paid for a Triumph Stag that had been fully rebuilt. A Lotus Esprit Turbo with just 18,538 miles on the clock achieved a strong £28,280. The market's appetite for E-Types is far from waning at the moment judging by the £108,640 paid for a 1962 left hand drive series 1 coupe. A BMW 3.0 CSL is always guaranteed to gather a lot of interest even if it is a restoration as is the case with the example in this sale and the final result of £53,760 is far from surprising despite the likely restoration costs. Another restoration project was an Aston Martin DB6 MK 1 which achieved £147,840. Not so long ago that is what you would have paid for a top example. The most surprising price paid has to be the £47,600 paid for a Morris Mini Cooper S MK1. Yes they are rare in Morris form, but that said the supply of Cooper cars overall is far from short in supply and we do wonder if £50k prices tags for a Mini are going to look rather expensive if a downturn does arrive.
