H&H

H&H' second sale within a week generated mixed results with a good number of big ticket cars failing to find a new owner. There were only 45 lots in this sale, but just 23 cars found a new home generating a sale rate of just over 50% which is someway down on the 80% plus sale rates of recent years. That said, this was a focused auction with a good many big number cars and the result is perhaps more an indication of the slower market conditions for cars at the top of the tree at the moment such as the Aston Martin DB5 which came with an estimate of £700,000 to £800,000. The top prize has to go to the Subaru Impreza WRC 97 chassis 001 which has a colourful rally history and undoubtedly this all helped it to burst through its estimate of £175000 - 200000 to arrive at a final price of £230,625. Another car that comfortably beat its estimate and justifiably was a lovely AC Aceca with a Bristol engine which surged all the way to £135,000 against an estimate of £100,000 to £120,000. Finally, although the Aston Martin DB5 failed to find a buyer, a DB6 Vantage was in demand and it achieved a final price of £249,700 against an estimate of £180,000 to £220,000.
