H&H

H&H achieved some good results on Wednesday with total sales of £4.9m and a 70% sale rate which is good going in a market which has undoubtedly slowed in recent months. There were some impressive results and top honours must go to the 1959 Jaguar XK150 SE 3.4 Litre Drophead Coupe which had been recently restored and was described by H&H as the 'the nicest XK150 Drophead Coupe we have thus far encountered'. They were certainly right as the car achieved £100k more than their estimate of £135,000 to £165,000. A more predictable result was the £78,400 paid for a barn find series 1 E-Type coupe. You can still pick up a well sorted series one car for well under £100k and this car's total cost including restoration will well exceed that, but the romance of buying a series one barn find never seems to fade. We are always keeping a close eye on valuations that low mileage cars achieve and it was interesting to see the 1991 Porsche 911 (964) cabriolet with 25,500 miles on the clock achieve a premium £61,600 twice what you would expect to pay for an equivalent 100,000 mile car.
