Classic Car Auctions

Last weekend's Classic Car Auction in conjunction with the Practical Classics NEC restoration show threw up a few mega bargains. The bargains came on Sunday morning with the Hampshire collection deceased estate sale. The cars were certainly not mainstream being predominantly of American origin, but they were very rare right hand drive examples. The standout was the 1937 Packard Super Eight which sold for a giveaway £5,062. This car being right hand drive is extremely rare and looking at the overall condition report and notes it was by no means a restoration having already been restored and instead just in need of recommissioning. The interior looked very respectable indeed and for someone with the right skill set this car was an absolute bargain. We have seen good examples sell for the best part of £20k. This was not an isolated giveaway sale price, there were others that all sold for a similar crazy low price. There was a 1937 Ford Model 78 'Fordor' V8 Sedan Deluxe (£5,400), a 1932 Buick 32 Sedan (8-57) (£6,975), a 1934 Buick Series 50 Sedan (£5,850). These were all right hand drive cars. Plus a superb 1938 Plymouth P6 'Chrysler Wimbledon' Convertible in right hand drive form made £17,438 which again looked low to us, we could easily see that one sitting on a dealer's forecourt for £25k plus. The collection also included a large number of restorations and the standout for us was the very complete albeit sad looking Jaguar MK1 which just managed £1,688.
