Brightwells

Brightwells sale this week had an excellent selection of cars on offer and it was good to see an absence of left hand drive muscle cars which seem to be increasingly dominant in the auction room. The most popular car of this sale was the Aston Martin DBS which was being sold from a deceased estate. Having been subject to an engine rebuild before being laid up due to the owners illness in 1987 the car was simply in need of careful recommissioning. The interior looked very good to us and with 81,000 miles on the clock and a rebuilt engine it was no surprise to see ten telephone bidders lined up. The final hammer price was £60,000 to which you need to add Brightwells 10% premium and VAT. This is likely to look cheap in a few years time as the DBS models play catch up to the earlier DB models.
