Bonhams annual Aston Martin sale provided mixed results with a few of the cars towards the top end of the valuation range failing to find new homes. The two barn find cars on offer were quickly snapped up with a real barn find 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 MkII Sports Saloon reaching £54,625 for what is going to be a very major restoration. Another very significant restoration project was a 1950 Lagonda 2.6-Litre Drophead Coupé Project which achieved £19,550. The best value Aston Martin models at the moment still appear to be the DBS and V8 series cars. One DBS in this sale which had been subjected to a £117,000 restoration achieved £101,180 whilst an older restoration DBS V8 which was in need of recommissioning still got to £51,750. Another DBS V8 which was in better shape was bid to £82,140 including premium. A 1968 Aston Martin DB6 'Mark 1' Volante to Vantage specification failed to find a new home and it was the same story for a 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante although the latter may well have found a buyer post sale as it is now listed as sold . The James Bond effect is yet to wear off DB5 cars and a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon powered its way to £561,500 including premium.
