Bonhams

Bonhams Monaco sale was small but nevertheless included some rather nice cars. Top billing went to the 1953 Jaguar C Type which came with excellent provenance and has been with the same family since 1963. It achieved a final price of £5,685,876 including premium. A 1958 Jaguar XK150 S 3.4-Litre OTS Roadster achieved £180,504 which shows that the appetite for the rare S variants remains strong. It was a similar story for a 1972 Porsche 911S 2.4-Litre which hit £153,428 including premium. Although some areas of the pre war market have been struggling of late, people will never get bored of Bugatti and this sale included a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix Two-Seater which had been with the same owner since 1964. It was not therefore surprising to see it roar all the way to £830,318 including premium. A few of the big ticket cars did not find new owners including the 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport Supercharged Spider, estimate £1.4 million - 1.9 million and the 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta, estimate £1.3 million - 1.5 million. The top end of the market has undoubtedly been struggling in recent months which is perhaps a sign that we face a period of consolidation which in many respects would be a healthy development for the market.
