Bonhams Beaulieu auction is always well attended given the autojumble that is going on all around and this year was no exception. The auction contained a number of interesting rarities especially within the barn find category as well as some exceptional pre war cars. It is rare for an auction not to have an early E-Type in it and this one contained a barn find 1961 flat floor 3.8 litre roadster. The car was in need of total restoration and was beyond the realms of an oily rag category car. That did not stop feverish bidding which took the car all the way to £77660 incl premium. At some point we can't help but feel there will be some consolidation across the early E-Type values but at present there is no sign of that. Our favourite car in this auction would have to be the magnificent 1920 Vauxhall E-type 30-98 Two-seater and dickey which was very original and unsurprisingly went on to make £242,000.
