The first sale of the year always seems to garner much attention and a good turnout especially as dealers start to think about re-stocking their showrooms with spring not that far away. This sale achieved a sale rate of 72.5% with 166 of the 229 lots finding new homes.There were a few surprising results and the standout one has to be the £37,725 paid for a Ford Capri 2.8 injection with just 2,300 miles on the clock. Once again this shows the high value that a low mileage and original car can achieve.The next interesting result was the 1975 BMW 2002 Tii which achieved £17010 including premium which is further confirmation that these cars are continuing to strengthen in value. A rarity which perhaps was not noticed by everyone in the room but one dealer certainly saw the value in the 1978 BMW 635CSI which had just under 54,000 miles on the clock and according to the narrative the only 1978 manual gearbox right hand drive car in the country. This car was bought by a dealer and was sold on again within a matter of days. The rise in Porsche values looks set to continue this year and this sale included a 1989 911 Turbo Targa which burst through its estimate by a considerable margin to end at £76,650. It was one of just 45 right hand drive Turbo Targas making it quite a rare car. Finally, another rarity that was in superb condition was a MK2 Triumph GT6 which achieved a final sale price including premium of £15,330. The 2 litre Triumphs such as the GT6 and Vitesse have long been undervalued by the market and we can see these cars moving higher this year.
