Anglia Car Auctions
07 November 2015
Last Saturday's ACA auction did not provide quite as many interesting cars as previous auctions they have run this year, but there were still a few interesting results and overall another good sale rate with 80% of the lots finding new homes. Our first pick has to be a rare Austin A35 Pick-up which is a real rarity and one of just 475 pick-ups sold. This one had been fully restored and the rarity factor helped to push the final price to £12,810. A BMW 2002 Turbo achieved an estimate busting £41,475 although this was broadly in line with values we have been seeing achieved for the rare 2002 Turbo. Ford Capri 3.0s' have been charging higher this year and the car in this auction was another fully restored example and the final price was again in line with recent results at £18,900. Sticking to Fords, a MK 1 Escort that was an ex dealers demonstrator with just 52,050 miles in the clock hit a final price of £8,400. Late 80s cars are still gaining in value as evidenced by the £7,980 achieved by a Ford Fiesta XR2 which wasn't even a low mileage car with 82,367 miles on the clock. A 1992 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth with 37.400 miles was mid estimate at £20,475. The Mercedes 280SL with 56,192 miles on the clock went on to achieve £14,175. The 280SL being the lowest engine size in the range of the r107 models usually struggle to sell but this was a strong price in our view. A good example of how a first class restoration can make a car achieve well in excess of its list value was the £18,900 paid for a Morris 1000 Traveller which had been subjected to a £30,000 restoration, but undoubtedly looked fantastic.
