Anglia Car Auctions last sale of what has been a difficult year achieved excellent results with 208 out of 226 cars sold giving a sale rate of just over 92%.An interesting car in the sale was a 1970 Austin 1800 UTE/Panel Van which achieved £16,740 and was within its estimate. An unusual variant of the Austin 1800 which is not original but the culmination of may years work and using two UTE's to create a van. The 1929 Austin Seven Chummy looked good value at £12,190 although the exact age was unknown due to an absence of chassis numbers, but a good Pram Hood chummy could easily achieve the best part of £20k so a good discount was applied. Another car which beat its estimate was a 1990 BMW E30 320i Touring which achieved £11,070 against its estimate of £7,500 to £8,500. E30 BMWs having been steadily rising in value and examples such as this touring are going to be increasingly sought after given their rarity and low numbers of low mileage examples such as this (70500 warranted miles). The standout result of the sale was the £31,320 paid for a Ford Escort RS1600i where the hammer fell at £31,320 compared to the estimate of £17,000 to £19,000. The car had been subjected to a total no expense spared bare shell restoration. Another notable result was the £15, 120 paid for a 1976 Ford Granada 3.0 Ghia Auto MK I (estimate £8,000 to £10,000). One notable miss was £12,190 paid for a low mileage (21,800 miles) 1974 Jensen Healey MK II which was estimated at £15,000 to £18,000. These cars have never commanded much of a following, but this still looks cheap for such a low mileage car. Finally, keep an eye on Metro prices, they are surging. Plenty of evidence of this in recent sales and more so in this one with £6,210 paid for a 1983 MG Metro with 27,559 miles on the clock whilst a later 1988 car with 55,447 mile made £4,860.
