Today's Silverstone Auctions sale
27 July 2019
Day one of a two day sale held by Silverstone Auctions during the weekend's Silverstone Classic has thrown up some interesting results. A sale of a collection of low mileage cars has certainly generated some significant interest and numbers. A very good example is a 1990 BMW 325i convertible with just 15,500 miles on the clock which achieved a record breaking £42,188. A 1992 Golf GTi Sportline with just under 21,000 miles achieved £27,563. A 1975 BMW 1602 with just over 3,000 miles from new went on to find £27,000 which almost looks cheap for such low mileage. Outside of the collection a 1973 BMW 2002 TII which was fully restored made just under £30,000 which is world record pace as well. Surely another record was the £51,750 paid for a 1983 Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus (Series 2) which had just 7,998 miles on the clock. A 1965 Ford Lotus Cortina made £69.906 which is strong money for one of these in a weak market. The numbers from today's sale are well worth a look and certainly show there is still strong demand for top quality and especially low mileage original cars. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.
