Strong bidding at Historics

Bidding at yesterday's Historics was very strong and suggest that despite all of the horrors going on all around us the market for classic cars remains very strong indeed. We think this was a particularly strong result for Historics with many cars beating the upper end of their estimates and even the no reserve cars did extremely well on the day. The major surprise was the £53,760 paid for a Vauxhall Cresta E, but there were plenty of other good results. Just some of the examples include £20,160 paid for a 1993 Alfa Romeo Spider S4 (estimate £10,000 - £14,000), £17,360 paid for a 1957 Austin Metropolitan Convertible (estimate £12,000 - £16,000), £37,356 paid for a 1986 BMW M635 CSi (estimate £28,000 - £35,000), £38,488 paid for a 1968 Triumph TR5 (estimate £23,000 - £27,000), £22,400 paid for a 1968 MG C GT(estimate £16,000 to £21,000), £17,350 paid for a 1996 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 (estimate £13,000 - £17,000), £220,740 paid for a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 (estimate £175,000 - £195,000), £62,260 paid for a 1975 Maserati Merak (estimate £53,000 - £60,000), £29,432 paid for a 1996 Jaguar XJS Celebration Convertible (estimate £15,000 - £19,000), £36,400 paid for a 1966 Austin Mini Cooper Mk I (estimate £25,000 - £30,000), £61,600 paid for a 1931 Talbot AM90 Speed by Offord (estimate £50,000 - £60,000), £92,960 paid for a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster, £20,160 paid for a 1987 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 Ex Sir Stirling Moss (estimate £13,000 - £16,000), £37,356 paid for a 2001 BMW Z3 M Coupé S54 Specification (estimate £25,000 - £32,000).£19,244 paid for a Bentley Turbo R (estimate £9,000 to £13,000). £17,920 paid for a 1966 Triumph Spitfire 4 Mk. II (estimate £12,000 - £15,000)

Finally, another standout was the £70,184 paid for a 1989 10,393 mile Mercedes 300SL which was estimated at £25,000 - £30,000
