Jaguar XJS sells for £38,812.20 at the H&H weekend sale
04 September 2017
Of the three sales that took place on Saturday the one held by H&H at the National Motorcycle museum was by far the smallest, but they generated one of the more surprising results with a final bid including premium of £38,812.20 for a 1975 Jaguar XJS 5.3. What the catalyst was for such a big price is hard to say. It could be that it was an early production model being number 170 off the line for this series and it was fitted with a rare manual gearbox. It could also be the fact that it was a low mileage car with 57,300 miles on the clock that had been with the same family for 30 years. Whatever the reason this is a very clear record for an XJS by some margin and it will no doubt have traders and private buyers seeking out similar examples given where the average asking price currently lies. Could the XJS be about to follow E-Type values we wonder!
