Historics this Saturday

Historics penultimate sale of the year takes place this coming Saturday at their usual base of the Brooklands Museum . The sale has lots of nice looking cars and a good number of no reserve cars which we understand is a policy now being adopted by Historics for mainly cars that have a sub £10k valuation. This is certain to prove a crowd puller for buyers seeking a potential bargain although that rarely happens with no reserve cars. For those seeking an oddball for their collection the Peel 50 micro car in this sale is hard to beat. Peel only produced 50 of these cars of which according to Historics just 27 have survived. At an initial glance the estimate of £85,000 to £95,000 seems huge, but given that one such example sold in Australia last year for similar money it seems in fact to be in line with what these cars are worth. The sale also includes another micro car, a 1957 Brütsch Mopetta which looks more unusual than the Peel. Only 14 of these were ever made and they never went into full production according to the Historics narrative. One of these is going to cost you half the price of a Peel with its estimate of £45,000 to £55,000.
