Classic Car Auctions on the 2nd June
28 May 2018
Auctions are coming thick and fast at the moment. Saturday was the turn of Matthewsons and next up is Classic Car Auctions on the 2nd June at their usual venue of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, Leamington Spa. Their auctions are devoted to the more affordable spectrum of the market which usually means plenty of opportunity to buy some of the more up and coming classics. There are many examples of this in this sale such as the 1.3L 1980 Ford Fiesta Supersport (estimated at (£): 15,000 - 20,000). According to CCA just 3,000 examples were built of this car making this something of a rarity. MK 1 Capris always make good money now and the 2.0L 1969 Ford Capri 2.0 GT XLR with just 24,000 miles on the clock should do well and certainly make its estimate of (£): 12,000 - 15,000. We are all looking to find the next major risers and the 6.0L 1999 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage / Coupe manual in this sale looks an ideal candidate. The manual vantage spec and just over 60,000 miles on the clock makes this an interesting car at the estimate of (£): 25,000 - 30,000. Surely in 10 years time these cars will be showing significant appreciation on today's prices. It will be interesting to see what the 1.1L 1976 Volkswagen Golf L manual with 22,000 miles on the clock achieves. The estimate of (£): 10,000 - 12,000 is not far off GTi territory, but as one of the earliest Golf cars combines with such a low mileage, the estimate might well be achievable. We will also be keeping a close eye on the 2.9L 1996 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 VSR manual which has 44,000 miles on the clock and comes with an estimate of (£): 14,000 - 18,000, This would be close to record pace for a VR6, but these cars are long overdue a ramp up in valuation.
