Brightwells timed auction results

Although the number of lots was limited in this sale and it was a timed auction without viewing it has thrown up a few interesting results for cars which are not far off bargain level. The lack of being able to view will undoubtedly have had an impact on the price people were prepared to pay for some of the cars. The cars that appeared cheap although we too have not seen them in the flesh include the near £44k paid for a 1982 Ferrari 308 GTBi which has just 12,683 miles on the clock according to the narrative. However, it is a left hooker and the narrative does state that there is little early history with the car, so perhaps the price is closer to fair value despite the reported low mileage. Another left hooker in the sale was a VW Karmann Ghia Convertible which was only bid to a little over £12k including premiums. That seems quite cheap for a convertible if everything is in order and the condition is generally good, a clear bargain in our view. The MG F Type Magna was definitely a cheap car even bearing in mind it was in need of work and missing the engine's head. That said if one can be sourced these cars can easily command north of £50k in good order so the purchase price of nearly £22k still leaves lots of room to invest in this car, a rewarding project for someone! A Porsche 911 SC Targa in need of some work made just over £20k and a Jaguar MK1 3.4 achieved just under £20k. We are quoting numbers showing on the timed auction after we have calculated for fees etc and it may well be the case that some of the cars did not sell at these levels so do check their website for further information over the coming days.
