Bonhams at Goodwood Members Meeting
19 March 2018
Yesterday's Bonhams auction proved the market remains buoyant with the best cars achieving strong prices. Fast Fords continue to attract big premiums especially if they are low mileage such as the 1980 Ford Escort RS2000 Custom Sports Saloon with just under 32,000 miles from new which achieved £40,250 including premium. The demand for pre war cars also seems very firm at present especially for big name cars such as the rather lovely 1935 Lagonda M45 Pillarless Saloon which sold for £68,700 including premium. The super rare 1937 Cord Model 812 Westchester Sedan sold for £46,000 including premium. This car sold at the same sale 2 years ago for £42,000 and has had some £16,000 spent on the engine during the last two years. The new owner has certainly benefitted given the modest uplift in value over the last two years. The AC ACE roadster in this sale achieved a little over £204,000. Values of these cars has risen strongly, even over the last two years. If you go back to the 2016 Members Meeting sale, a Bristol engine car achieved just over £100k.
