About the Austin A40 Van
Austin made a number of different models that they named as A40 van, but the one made during the period 1947 to 1956 was initially called a 10 CWT Van and later called a half ton delivery Van. It was based on the A40 Devon/Dorset saloon. It was a rather distinctive shape and is becoming popular as a collectors commercial vehicle. Four different models were introduced during its lifespan named from GV2 to GV5. The van had 17 inch road wheels. As is often the case the lifespan of the van version of the A40 long exceeded that of the saloon cars.
