About the Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider
The Guilia (series 105) range of cars was launched in 1962 and the Sprint GT model came along in 1963. The basic body shape shared by all models was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. The car was provided with a light alloy twin overhead camshaft four cylinder engine.
Initially two engines were offered, a 1290cc which was aimed at the Italian market to take advantage of the tax laws. The larger size was a 1570cc DOHC engine.
Most cars were fitted with a 5 speed gearbox and various carburetor and tuning configurations were available giving a maximum power output of approximately 110bhp. The spider was provided with the 1570cc engine.
Production continued until 1965
