Silverstone Auctions

Silverstone Auctions latest sale generated some good numbers although some cars towards the top end of the valuation tree did not find new owners. A fully rebuilt TR6 achieved £23,063 which shows these cars are still rising in value. Typically nice examples are now selling for the best part of £20k and we are certainly seeing more cars advertised at over £20,000. A Ferrari 328GTS with just 5,600 miles on the clock hit £103,500 although there were no takers for the less desirable 348TS that had even less road time with just 3,985 miles. Series 1 E-Type Roadsters are regularly fetching over £100k now and one such example with the later 4.2 engine found its way to £112,000. Jaguar XK's have been playing catch up to E-Types over the last 12 to 18 months and a fabulous XK140 SE in left hand drive achieved £121,500. The big ticket car was a MK2 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage which went all the way to £348,750. BMW values still appear to be on the up and a nice E30 M3 with 80,000 miles on the clock went for £52,875 which is close to record pace. Finally, a rare right hand drive Porsche 944 Turbo which is one of just 100 such examples in right hand drive form commanded a final price of £39,375 which shows that these cars are still on the up and playing catch-up to the 911 cars.
