Silverstone Auctions

Silverstone Auctions sale at the Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry produced some good results, especially if you are a low mileage Ford Capri owner. The recent takeoff in fast Fords and generally low mileage cars has been swift and this example produced another example with a 1987 Ford Capri 'Brooklands' with just 936 miles on the clock storming to a final price inclusive of premium of £54,000, a record by quite some margin for one of these cars. Another low mileage RS, this time a 1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth LUX with just over 5,000 miles on the clock achieved £52,875. Sticking with fast Fords a 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 with over 50,000 miles on the clock also made good money with a final price inclusive of premium of £52,875. Whilst we are now sounding like a broken record it is hard not to ignore the £43,875 paid for a fully rebuilt 1972 Ford Escort Mexico. It is hard to believe how quickly sentiment towards a particular make and model can shift, but at the moment if it is a Ford and it is a fast variant you can be assured of a strong price. How long this will last remains to be seen. There were of course lots of other cars in this auction and if you would like to see the full result listings please click on the link.
