Brightwells latest sale achieved a very respectable sale rate of just over 80% on the day of the 170 lots on offer. There were some nice cars on offer providing a number of interesting results. Towards the top end there was a 1962 Jaguar E-Type Coupe 3.8 Litre with a believed 32,000 miles on the clock which achieved £118,800 including premium demonstrating that low mileage cars continue to command a premium. Another low mileage car in this sale was an MG Magnette ZB which had been with the same family since new with just 16,000 miles on the clock. The paint on the car was somewhat dull in places but the interior was as you would expect of a low mileage car. The final price of £18,150 is a new auction record for this model. The two Ford escorts in the sale achieved strong prices. Both came from a collection of Fords being sold at this auction. The MK1 1300GT came in a very fetching colour combination and the final price of a little over £15500 was unsurprising and shows how these cars are continuing to gain favour. It was a similar story for the MK2 Escort RS2000 which achieved just short of £22,000. The surprising result was the £8250 paid for an Austin 7 Opal. This was within the estimate but the car was in need of a full repaint and a considerable amount of restoration work making it a somewhat high price to pay for one of these cars. The car we would have liked to take home was the very impressive looking Invicta 4.5 liter fixed head coupe. These cars have such an imposing look and this car was in absolutely lovely condition and well worth the £109,760 price tag.
